Global Conflict: "Hell, man!"?

As GC: Sweatshops is being launched we've begun work on the next title in the Global Conflicts series. This time we will take you to sunny Afghanistan where raiding insurgents, insufficient local government, wide-spread corruption, questionable military tactics, a population scarred by three decades of war-like conditions, opium fields set ablaze, religion, history and a breathtaking landscape, will somehow be cooked into a spicy stew of fun (maybe not ha-ha funny, but more of an intriguing fun) and education.

The plot so far: You will be taking on the part of an NGO investigating a school project that has gone wrong. A school teacher is missing, the school building has been burned to the ground, and the local police is either very lazy or somehow involved in the wrongdoings. You will need to find out what has happened, and get the school up and running - if at all possible.

But - a rough plot is one thing, giving the game a title is a completely different issue. As is often the case, naming your darlings is one the hardest things to do. So a bit of help or inspiration might be required. So far, titles could include (or exclude - sometimes you're better off knowing what you don't want, than knowing what you want) the following:

GC: Taliban
GC: 2012 (the danish involvement is working under a 2008-2012 plan, at which point it must be evaluated - and most likely extended)
GC: By All Means (like the duality of giving someone carte blanche to do what they want, how they want - and the 'opposite', where the end justify the means)
GC: The school project
GC: Enduring Freedom?
GC: Afghanistan Burning (yes, I did just recently re-view the Mississippi version)

... or maybe just the more accurate - and slightly more dull:

GC: Afghanistan

... or ???

I think this is such a great

I think this is such a great idea to run with. I am definitely a big fan of this idea. You need to push this more and more in the future. I am ready to see it when it done.

Afghan Missionary

Since the plot is trying to rebuild the exploded afghan, I think naming it as Afghan Missionary or Afghan Plan (re.Marshall Plan) would be nice.

Collaboration!

Hello Liz! I've just read your comment and, honestly speaking, I'm really impressed with the programs you are providing in GB for students. it is so cool that you have such type of collaboration with Afghan schools. I'm also a teacher and all the time trying to make my own students get interest to this important theme.

Afghanistan

Hi I work for the Dept of Education in the UK, based at the British Council. We manage a number of partnerships between UK and Afghan schools, and we can trial your new game. We have many schools where the students are the children of UK servicemen who do Tour of Duty in Afghanistan. We work a lot with schools in Pakistan as well. We would like to be involved with SGI as we have a digital strategy and would like to use the games as a shared resource leading to classroom discussions across the world. Please get in touch .

Afghan Title

GC: Enduring Freedom

It's the name of the coalition operation in Afghanistan but there's also a rather bitter pun there that freedom is something to be endured rather than celebrated or enjoyed. That seems to fit your themes ("insufficient local government, wide-spread corruption, questionable military tactics") quite well.

Afghan title

Great suggestions! I suggest to leave out the 2012 - it relates to Danish affairs and not to the actual conflict. I like the Afghanistan Burning. Or perhaps Knowledge Burning to focus on topic rather than region. Let the suggestions roll!
